The Five Purposes of Government

Protection Of Individual Rights

• Every person is born with rights and everybody has the right to life, liberty, and property. The goverment makes sure that everybody has equal rights and that their rights are protected and nobody can take those three rights away from them. If somebody tries taking these rights away from another person, like trying to take away somebodies life by hurting them, the criminal will go to jail and be punished by the goverment.

Provide National Defense

• The country has protection like the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force that protect us from other countries. They also help us with relations with some countries. We make treaties with other countries so we have more friends outside of our own country. We would then have help from them if we were to ever get into a war.]

Maintain Order

• Laws made by government tell citizens how to act in order to keep peace and safety. Goverments maintain order by having a police force, making and carrying out laws, and providing prisions and anything that keeps goverment stable and values citizens.

Public Services

• One of the governments jobs is to provide public services that are performed to benefit the community. They provide the citizens with things the citizens wouldnt do or pay for by themselves. The goverment provides public services such as sewer systems and public transportation.

Direct Economic Decisions

• The goverment makes choices that benefit our community and help keep us safe and satisfied. They make decisions about economic issues, like to who or how to distrubite resources to multiple people and purposes. For example, they decide where to build new schools based on where they're needed or cutting and lowering taxes.
